We have come to the end of what has been a very unusual and different school year with the huge challenge of Covid-19 since March 12th. First of all, I would like to express my thanks to our whole school community, our boys, Staff and Parents for meeting the many challenges. It certainly was not easy for everyone.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the teachers who very quickly adapted to the challenges and demands of distance learning. Judging from the appreciative emails coming from home, they certainly rose to the occasion. Thanks also to our SNAs for their great work and support during the past few months. To our parents and boys, we would like to express our appreciation for the fantastic engagement from home.It was great to see all the different projects, photographs and work coming back through Class dojo, Seesaw and Edmodo. Our Webex sessions were also a big hit.
A big thank you to our 6th class teachers who organised the “Graduation” for our sixth class boys. A huge amount of work went into the production of this presentation and it was appreciated by all. We wish all the 6th class boys the very best in their new schools. I know that they will keep the Ballyroan flag flying!
Another big thank you to the teachers who organised the Virtual Sport’s Day. The photographs have shown that you were hugely engaged and very inventive! The photographs can be viewed on our website www.ballyroanboysschool.ie
Michael’ our caretaker has been working hard over the past several weeks making sure that the building is well prepared for September, and we are very appreciative. Trish, who is known to you all, has carried out trojan work over the past few months. Thank you Trish! 🙂
We are currently awaiting direction from the Department of Education and Skills for our re- opening on September 1st 2020. We are already making preliminary plans in advance of this information.
We expect measures to include: ·
Hand hygiene: station in each classroom and throughout the school. Every child to carry personal hand gel.
Cleaning: to be increased in line with the anticipated guidelines. Deep clean to take place in August.
(In order to ensure the school is ready for us and the return to school, the building will not be used for camps during the summer holidays.)
An isolation room will be put in place should anybody show symptoms during the school day. However, if your son is feeling unwell at any time next term, please do not send him into school.
Further protocols regarding the virus will be clarified in due course. We will all work together to ensure the safety of the boys and also the safety of all Staff working with the boys.
This is an evolving situation for us all and we will continue to keep you informed of any developments.
Once more, can I say well done to all the boys for their great work over the past few months. We also look forward to welcoming our new 1st class boys in September.
Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and safe summer break and we will see you on September 1st.
Kind regards and thanks

Following on from Leo Varadker’s announcement on May 1st that schools will not reopen until September we knew for sure that we would have to continue and expand our online presence.
