The Light is on for You

Dear Parents

As we approach Christmas I’m sure that you are all very busy. I invite you to take time out from your busy schedule and drop into the Church on one of the Monday evenings (7-8pm) before Christmas day (1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd). The church will be open, warm and welcoming for anyone to drop in for Confession. Literally the light will be on for you, the light of God’s grace and love. The best confessions are not necessarily made in a mad dash on Christmas eve, but Advent is a whole season of returning to the Lord and enjoying his light.

It will only take a few minutes to drop into the church and go to the available priest. Parents who brought their children to their First Confession might like to make the same effort to bring them or come along with them to another. For the little ones I leave the light on so no need to be afraid.

I will be putting some leaflets around the church to remind people how best to receive the sacrament. Nobody need worry, even if you can’t remember the prayers and format, I’ll help you with those. All you need to remember is that God loves you and forgives you all your sins and will give you the special grace to sin less and love more for Christmas.

I wish you a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Fr. Brendan
