Green Schools

Green Schools

Green-Schools Programme is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes, recognises and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.

It is a long-term programme that introduces students, teachers, parents and the wider community to the concept of an environmental management system. However, Green-Schools is far more than just an environmental management system.

Ballyroan BNS has been involved with the Green Schools Programme for several years and currently holds two Green Flags, one for Litter and Waste and the other for Energy.

We are working towards our third Green flag this year. We are in our second year of the Water theme which means we are trying our best to save water and we continue to recycle and save energy too.

Thank you so much to our Green School Committee from 2012/2013. They did lots of work on the Water theme organising Water week, carrying out a survey on how we use water at home and much more! Well done boys!

At the moment classes are choosing their new committee members so if you are interested in being on the Green Schools Committee let your classmates and teacher know and you might be get elected to the committee! Watch this space to see who our new members are . . .
